Ali Fazal has shared the first glimpse into the making of "Mirzapur: The Film," which officially wrapped its final schedule this past weekend. The actor took to social media to share behind-the-scenes visuals from the sets, offering an engaging insight into the process of bringing the gritty world of Mirzapur and the iconic character Guddu Bhaiya to the big screen. This marks the first time visuals from the making of the film have been shared publicly, making the post especially significant for fans of the franchise. With the shoot now complete, the post signals that the film has entered its next phase, further fueling anticipation.
In his social media post, Fazal reflected on the journey, describing it as "a journey of some Love and some Hate". He also acknowledged the team effort behind the film, expressing his appreciation for director Gurmmeet Singh and Puneet Krishna for creating the world of Mirzapur. He also thanked cinematographer Sanjay Kapoor for his relentless work on the film. "Here's just my love for the main man behind us.. pushing us to perfection DIRECTOR SAAB – Gurupa.. @gurmmeetsingh aur unke saathi in crime #PuneetKrishna for creating the many worlds and Baba @kapoorbaba who has relentlessly shot this masterpiece without compromising despite all the necessary hurdles… but through all of it we brought our A game when the camera rolled up on us," Ali wrote. He noted that the entire cast and crew gave their best throughout the journey and mentioned that more pictures would follow.
"Mirzapur: The Film" is a cinematic extension of the "Mirzapur" series, produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under Excel Entertainment. Gurmmeet Singh, who has previously directed the series, is also directing the film. The film will feature the return of the show's principal cast, including Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, Shweta Tripathi as Gajgamini Gupta, and Divyenndu as Munna Tripathi. Abhishek Banerjee is also confirmed to reprise his role as Compounder. Shriya Pilgaonkar, who is also a part of the film, shared multiple pictures and videos with the cast and the production team. The first season of "Mirzapur" was released in 2018 on Amazon Prime Video, followed by the second season in 2020 and the third in 2024. The show has also been renewed for a fourth season. The story revolves around Akhandanand "Kaleen" Tripathi, a ruthless mafia don who controls a lawless city in Uttar Pradesh. The film adaptation of the Prime Video crime thriller series is set to debut in 2026. Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar have described the project as an opportunity to expand the series' scope. They believe that adapting such a treasured series into a film will undoubtedly make for an even more engrossing watch, allowing audiences to immerse themselves in the world of Mirzapur.
