Rohit Shetty's Golmaal 5 Gears Up for Filming Amidst Heightened Security Concerns After Incident.

Following a recent security scare, filmmaker Rohit Shetty is set to commence the shooting of "Golmaal 5" with stringent security measures in place. In the early hours of Sunday, February 1, 2026, unidentified assailants fired multiple rounds outside Shetty's residence, Shetty Tower, in Juhu, Mumbai. While no injuries were reported, the incident prompted the Mumbai Police to launch an investigation and beef up security around the director's property.

In light of the incident, the production of "Golmaal 5" will proceed with a two-tier security arrangement to ensure the safety of the cast and crew. According to a member of the film's creative team, if Shetty adheres to the original schedule, a security team of approximately 60 personnel will be deployed. The first tier will consist of local police, while the second will comprise Shetty's personal bodyguards. An access-controlled zone will be established around Shetty, with entry limited to a select few.

To further enhance security, a series of measures will be implemented on the "Golmaal 5" sets. Every individual entering the set, including junior artistes, vendors, and daily-wage crew, will be pre-registered with mandatory ID verification; spot entries will be strictly prohibited. Vehicle movement will be carefully regulated, with all equipment trucks and vanity vans logged in advance and thoroughly checked at the entry points. Details regarding shoot timings and locations will be shared on a need-to-know basis, and call-sheet circulation will be restricted, with location details disseminated in a staggered manner.

Despite the security concerns, sources close to the director indicate that his professional commitments remain unchanged. "Golmaal 5" is slated to go on floors in late February or early March 2026. A massive set, featuring a replica of a police station, a cafe, and a palatial mansion, is currently under construction at Film City, Mumbai. Unlike previous installments filmed in Goa or Hyderabad, a significant portion of "Golmaal 5" will be shot in Mumbai itself.

The original cast, including Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, and Kunal Kemmu, is confirmed to return. Rumors suggest that a female villain might be introduced to add a new dynamic to the group. There are also reports that Kareena Kapoor Khan may reprise her role as the female lead.

The Mumbai Crime Branch and Pune Police have arrested five suspects in connection with the firing incident. The arrested individuals are Aman Anand Marote (27), Aditya Gyaneshwar Gayaki (19), Siddharth Deepak Yenpure (20), Samarth Shivsharan Pomaji (18), and Swapnil Bandu Sakat (23). Investigators believe the accused were involved in planning and facilitating the attack, including arranging the scooter used during the incident. There are also reports of potential links between the accused and Shubham Lonkar, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) and the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) have condemned the incident. The AICWA, citing previous attacks on Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, and the murder of Baba Siddique, stated that this pattern reflects a systematic attempt to create an atmosphere of fear and intimidation within the film industry.

While "Golmaal 5" remains on track, Shetty's other project, a biopic on former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria starring John Abraham, has been put on hold for the past two weeks. The director was reportedly in Ooty for a recce until January 30.
