In Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district, security forces have neutralized one terrorist during the ongoing Operation "Trashi-I". The operation, a joint effort by the White Knight Corps of the Indian Army, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), has been underway in the snowbound Chatroo-Dolgam-Dichhar belt for several weeks.

The operation was initially launched on January 18, 2026, following intelligence inputs about the presence of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists in the area. A fierce gun battle erupted in the Sonnar forest near Mandral-Singhpora. During the initial exchange of fire on January 18, one Army paratrooper was killed, and eight soldiers sustained injuries. Havildar Gajendra Singh of the Special Forces was later identified as the paratrooper who made the ultimate sacrifice. The Army paid tribute to his courage and selfless devotion to duty.

Despite the challenging terrain and heavy snowfall of over two feet, security forces continued their relentless pursuit of the militants. On January 31, contact was re-established with the terrorists in the general area of Dolgam. The operation was supported by coordinated intelligence from various sources. A cordon was established, and intense search operations were carried out.

The operation involved نیروهای مشترک including the Army, J&K Police, and CRPF. Mobile internet services were temporarily suspended in the area as a precautionary measure.

As of February 4, 2026, reports confirm that the joint teams re-engaged with the terrorists hiding in the dense forest terrain, resulting in the elimination of one terrorist. Search operations are still underway to neutralize any remaining terrorists. Authorities believe that two to three foreign terrorists linked to the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad were present in the area.
