In response to a recent fatal accident involving Chinese kite string, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to treat deaths caused by the banned material as murder. The stringent order comes after a man in Lucknow, Mohammad Shoeb, died from a severe throat injury inflicted by the synthetic string while riding his motorcycle. Bystanders attempted to help, but Shoeb succumbed to his injuries.

Chief Minister Adityanath has voiced serious concerns regarding the continued availability of Chinese manjha despite a complete ban on its sale, storage, and transportation. He has ordered police officials across Uttar Pradesh to launch intensive raid operations targeting the entire supply chain of the deadly kite string. According to the Chief Minister, there can be no compromise on public safety and has instructed that the progress of the campaign and actions taken are to be reviewed regularly at the highest level to ensure there is no negligence at any stage.

Local authorities and police in Lucknow have already begun conducting raids on kite shops and storage facilities in response to the Chief Minister's directive. Enforcement teams are actively inspecting markets and storage areas to locate and seize any Chinese manjha. Police officials have issued stern warnings that anyone found selling or using the prohibited kite string will face strict legal consequences, including potential imprisonment and substantial fines under various applicable laws.

Chinese manjha poses a significant threat to the general public, including children, birds, and animals, the Chief Minister stated. This isn't the first attempt to ban the dangerous material, as both courts and environmental bodies have tried before. Adityanath has instructed that officials be held accountable if they fail to monitor and control the sale of Chinese manjha in their respective jurisdictions. The Chief Minister has made it clear that the state government will not tolerate any compromise when it comes to public safety.
