Saturday, June 28, 2025, is the fourth Saturday of the month, and banks across India will be closed. This is a standard holiday observed by all scheduled and non-scheduled banks in India, as per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines.

The RBI established this rule in 2015, mandating that all banks, including private and public sector banks, remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. This decision was formalized through a government notification issued on August 20, 2015, in the Gazette of India, amending Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

While physical branches will be closed, digital banking services such as online banking, mobile banking, UPI, and ATMs will remain accessible. Customers can continue to perform most banking transactions through these channels. However, it's important to note that transactions requiring Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) may not be available.

The bank closure on Saturday, June 28, will be preceded by regional holidays in some states on Friday, June 27, for Rath Yatra. Banks in Odisha and Manipur will be closed on June 27 for Rath Yatra and Kang, respectively. Following the fourth Saturday, Sunday, June 29, is a regular weekly off, resulting in two consecutive days of bank closures. In Mizoram, banks will also be closed on Monday, June 30, for Remna Ni.

Here is a summary of the bank holidays around June 28, 2025:

  • June 27 (Friday): Rath Yatra/Kang (Orissa and Manipur)
  • June 28 (Saturday): Fourth Saturday Bank Holiday (All of India)
  • June 29 (Sunday): Weekly off (All of India)
  • June 30 (Monday): Remna Ni (Mizoram)

Customers who need to conduct banking activities that require a physical branch visit should plan accordingly, keeping these holiday closures in mind. It's always a good idea to check with your local bank branch for any specific holiday hours or closures.
