Indian defence and police forces have made a remarkable impact at the World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) 2025, held in Birmingham, Alabama, USA, from June 30 to July 6. The Border Security Force (BSF) and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) have emerged as leading contributors to India's impressive medal tally. India finished third overall with a total of 560 medals.

BSF's outstanding performance

The Border Security Force (BSF) has showcased exceptional athletic prowess, securing a total of 73 medals, including 38 gold, 21 silver, and 14 bronze. A contingent of 21 BSF personnel participated in six disciplines, demonstrating the force's commitment to sports and physical fitness.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) also made a significant contribution to India's success at the WPFG 2025, winning 64 medals. The CISF team participated in six events, demonstrating great strength, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Notable achievements by CISF personnel include:

  • ASI Reenu from Haryana: Gold in 10 km cross-country, 5,000 meters, 10,000 meters, half marathon, and half marathon team event; Silver in 1,500 meters
  • Wrestlers from Haryana (Sunny Kumar, Ajay Dagar, Harish, Mohit, and Abhimanyu): All won gold medals
  • Gurjeet Singh from Haryana: Gold in high jump, silver in hammer throw, and bronze in decathlon, triple jump, and pole vault
  • Vijaya Kumari from Bihar: Won a total six medals, including gold medals in 100 mtr race, 4x100 mtr relay, 4x100 mtr mixed relay; and silver medals in 200 mtr and 400 mtr hurdle race each; and a bronze in 400 mtr event

India's strong showing at the World Police and Fire Games 2025 resulted in a third-place finish in the overall medal tally with 560 medals.   • Punjab Police: Manjit Singh won one gold and one bronze medal in indoor rowing.
  • Rajasthan Police: Krishna Sharma won a gold medal in boxing.

The World Police and Fire Games is a biennial event that unites active and retired law enforcement and fire service personnel from around the world. The next edition of the WPFG is scheduled to be held in Perth in 2027. India will host the event in 2029 in Gujarat.
