A high-ranking official from the Israeli Defense Ministry recently concluded a visit to New Delhi, where discussions with India's National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval centered on strengthening defense ties and addressing regional security concerns, particularly the ongoing tensions with Iran. Major General (Res.) Amir Baram, Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, met with NSA Doval and Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh to explore avenues for enhanced strategic cooperation.

The meetings underscored the strategic importance of the India-Israel relationship, with both sides expressing a commitment to deepen defense cooperation with a long-term perspective. A key outcome of the discussions was the agreement to develop an institutional framework for further solidifying defense ties between the two nations. The discussions also included a review of the progress made in ongoing defense collaboration activities since the last Joint Working Group meeting held in India in July 2024. Baram shared insights on the strategic landscape in the Gulf region, providing updates on "Operation Rising Lion," Israel's mission aimed at countering Iran's nuclear and missile capabilities. India has urged both Iran and Israel to de-escalate and choose diplomacy.

During the discussions, India reiterated its zero-tolerance approach to terrorism and condemned the October 7, 2023, terrorist attacks in Israel, calling for the release of all hostages. Major General (Res.) Baram condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and conveyed full support for India's fight against terrorism.

The strengthening of India-Israel defense ties is viewed as a pivotal step in advancing their strategic partnership, reinforcing their commitment to enhanced collaboration in the face of shared security challenges.
