Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat stated that the organization has "endured a century of neglect, hostility and bans to emerge as a force of acceptance". Bhagwat made these remarks at the "100 Years Journey of RSS: New Horizons" event in Delhi. He emphasized the importance of presenting the "truth and accurate details" about the RSS, urging people to form their views based on facts rather than perceptions.

Bhagwat highlighted the RSS's journey, noting its founder, Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, participated in various streams of the freedom struggle and believed in societal transformation beyond just leaders and policies. He acknowledged the opposition and neglect the RSS has faced, but emphasized the organization considers society as its own and runs on personal dedication, independent of external sources. Despite facing bans, attacks, and vilification, the RSS has expanded from small beginnings.

Bhagwat also addressed the concept of Hindu identity, defining it as inclusive and rooted in devotion to Bharat Mata and ancestral traditions, rather than territory. He clarified that the idea of "Hindu Rashtra" is geographical and not a political construct, emphasizing that it does not exclude anyone and has nothing to do with power. Bhagwat stressed that the RSS's aim is to unite Hindus for the welfare of the nation. He also stated that the RSS does not control its volunteers but advises them, with final decisions resting in their hands.

Bhagwat has emphasized the importance of social transformation for India's progress, stating that nation-building should not be left to politicians but should be taken into the hands of the people. He linked this transformation to character, defining a leader as someone with a clean character who lives for the nation. Bhagwat also echoed Jawaharlal Nehru, saying that "we do not believe uniformity is necessary for unity; there is unity in diversity too". He emphasized that the foundation of Indian philosophy is "I am in all and all are in me", defining every individual as an inseparable part of society with a responsibility to preserve and maintain it.

Bhagwat has acknowledged that authentic information about the RSS is often lacking and that discussions should be based on facts, not perceptions. He has also stated that the RSS does not seek to create factions and aims to bring people together to build a powerful nation. He reiterated the organization's commitment to Bharat, with its purpose and significance rooted in making India a "vishwaguru" (world teacher).

Bhagwat has also commented on the importance of internal strength and unity within the Hindu community to ensure invincibility, even against hostile forces. He stressed that India must combine virtue with power to counter aggression on all borders, adding that the protection of Hindus depends on India's unity. He said that while the RSS does not pray for war, it prepares so that war is not needed, emphasizing internal strength, harmony, ecological responsibility, and family values.
