The music composer duo Sachet-Parampara are planning to file a defamation case against international music producer KMKZ, after he accused them of plagiarizing his beat for their song "Raanjhan". The song, which features Kriti Sanon, Kajol, and Shaheer Sheikh, is from the 2024 film "Do Patti" and quickly gained popularity. KMKZ claimed that Sachet-Parampara and T-Series used his beat without giving him any credit. He stated that he had posted the beat online two years ago and was shocked to find it in a song with over 290 million streams on Spotify and topping the Indian Billboard charts. He also claimed that T-Series did not respond to his attempts to contact them.

Sachet-Parampara have strongly denied these allegations, asserting that "Raanjhan" is their original composition. Parampara Thakur addressed the issue in an interview, dismissing KMKZ's claims as false and aimed at gaining attention. She stated, "Whoever is claiming to have produced the music for Raanjhan is making false allegations, aimed only at gaining unnecessary popularity". She further explained, "We have shared the original music files and piano scores with YouTube, Spotify, and other streaming platforms, which proves that our work is original".

Parampara also clarified that the F sharp scale chord progression used in "Raanjhan" is generic and can be used in many songs. She stated that chords like F sharp, E flat minor, and D flat can be put together by any composer if they're making a song on the F sharp major scale. She added that KMKZ's request to remove the song was denied after major platforms reviewed the original file.

The composers asserted that they take pride in their original compositions and would not tolerate misleading claims. "Our lawyers have taken this matter to court now," Parampara shared. "We will be filing a defamation case against them for hampering our long-earned goodwill in the music industry. Such misleading acts/claims by anyone will not be tolerated," she added, emphasizing that they would never break the trust of their fans.

This is not the first plagiarism controversy for the "Do Patti" album. Earlier in 2024, Kolkata-based music producer Rajarshi Mitter alleged that the track "Maiyya" was lifted from his composition and served a legal notice to the makers. Similarly, in November of last year, musician Nilanjana Ghosh Dastidar accused T-Series and Sachet-Parampara of copying a track by her husband, Rajarshi Mitter, for the song "Maiyya".

The situation has sparked debate on music ownership and fair credit within the industry. Sachet-Parampara remain firm in their stance that they have done nothing wrong and are prepared to defend their reputation in court.
