Mrunal Thakur, known for her roles in films like "Sita Ramam" and "Hi Nanna", is currently facing backlash on social media for past comments that have resurfaced. The actress has been called out for allegedly making "mean" remarks about fellow actresses Bipasha Basu and Anushka Sharma.

The controversy began when an old video clip resurfaced featuring Thakur making comments about Bipasha Basu's physique. In the video, Thakur is seen in an interview from her "Kumkum Bhagya" days, where she seemingly body-shames Basu. This sparked criticism online, with many users slamming Thakur for her remarks. Bipasha Basu indirectly responded with a message about strong women, and Thakur later apologized, stating that she said "silly things" when she was 19 and never intended to body-shame anyone.

Adding to the controversy, another old interview clip of Thakur has gone viral. In this video, she talks about rejecting a film that later became a blockbuster and a turning point for the actress who eventually starred in it. While Thakur doesn't name the actress, many speculate she's referring to Anushka Sharma and the film "Sultan". Thakur said in the interview, "So many. I said no, honestly, because I was not ready. Controversies hojayegi. It became a super hit and did help the female actress to reach there. But, then I realised if I would have done that film at that point of time I would have lost myself". She further added, "Then she is not working at the moment, but I am, is itself a victory because I don't want instant gratification, instant recognition, instant fame because anything that comes instantly goes away instantly".

These comments have led to Thakur being labeled a "mean girl" by some social media users. They criticized her for seemingly putting down other actresses to make herself feel better. Some users felt that her comments were an unnecessary dig at Sharma, especially since Salman Khan had previously revealed that Thakur was initially considered for the role in "Sultan" but didn't fit the physical requirements of a wrestler.

Amidst this controversy, there are no official reports or statements confirming Mrunal Thakur has "dropped BTS" (Behind The Scenes) content from "Sita Ramam". It is important to note that "Sita Ramam" was released three years ago and celebrated its third anniversary on August 5, 2025. Mrunal Thakur and Dulquer Salmaan both shared heartfelt posts on social media, expressing gratitude for the movie's lasting impact and the love received for their characters. The film was a significant success in Thakur's career, earning her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Telugu.
