In a bizarre turn of events in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district, a woman has filed a case against her husband and in-laws, alleging dowry harassment and bigamy. The accused, Jitendra Kumar alias Bablu, had been missing for nearly seven years before being spotted by his wife, Sheelu, in an Instagram reel with another woman.
Sheelu and Jitendra married in 2017, but their relationship quickly deteriorated due to dowry demands. Sheelu reported that she was harassed for a gold chain and a ring, and when her family couldn't meet these demands, she was allegedly thrown out of her marital home. Subsequently, her family filed a formal complaint against Jitendra for dowry harassment.
Amidst the dowry harassment investigation, Jitendra mysteriously disappeared in 2018. His father filed a missing person report on April 20, 2018, leading to a fruitless police search. With no leads, Jitendra's family accused Sheelu and her relatives of foul play, even alleging that they had killed him and disposed of his body. Sheelu maintained her innocence, stating that Jitendra's family was conspiring against her.
Unaware of her husband's whereabouts, Sheelu lived in hope for seven years. The truth finally surfaced when she stumbled upon an Instagram reel featuring Jitendra with another woman. The reel, filmed in Ludhiana, Punjab, revealed that Jitendra had started a new life with a second wife.
Recognizing him instantly, Sheelu reported the matter to the Kotwali Sandila police. Police investigations revealed that Jitendra had orchestrated his own disappearance and relocated to Ludhiana, where he remarried. His social media presence inadvertently exposed his deception.
Based on Sheelu's complaint and the evidence from social media, police arrested Jitendra. He has been charged under relevant sections of the law pertaining to bigamy, fraud, and dowry harassment. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and subsequent remarriage. The case is currently under investigation at the Sandila police station.
