Diljit Dosanjh made a public appearance in Mumbai on Monday, July 14, 2025, marking his first sighting since the controversy surrounding his film Sardaar Ji 3. The singer-actor was seen at Mumbai's Kalina airport, greeting the paparazzi with a warm smile, folded hands, and a wave.

Dosanjh's airport look was casual, sporting a white T-shirt with a print of Michael Jackson, blue denim jeans, and a red turban. The actor's appearance follows weeks of speculation and controversy surrounding the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3.

The decision to cast Aamir as the lead female in Sardaar Ji 3 led to severe criticism, particularly from the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). The FWICE issued a non-cooperation order against Dosanjh, temporarily banning him from participating in new film projects. The film itself was not released in India due to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.

Following the backlash, producer Bhushan Kumar intervened and appealed to the FWICE. An exception was granted, allowing Dosanjh to continue shooting for Border 2, an upcoming war drama. Dosanjh had previously confirmed his involvement in Border 2 via Instagram, also hinting at another project titled No Entry 2. Border 2 is slated for release on Republic Day weekend, January 23, 2026. The film is jointly produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishna Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta under the banners of T-Series and JP Films.

Despite the controversy, Dosanjh appeared cheerful and greeted fans and media outside the airport. He acknowledged the paparazzi, who greeted him with "Paaji!". Videos and photos of his appearance circulated on social media.

Sardaar Ji 3 was released internationally on June 27, 2025. The controversy began after the trailer revealed Hania Aamir as one of the lead actresses. The film's team faced backlash, leading to the FWICE issuing the non-cooperation order against Dosanjh.
