A wave of fear has gripped women in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, following a series of disturbing incidents involving a so-called "nude gang". This gang, comprised of unidentified naked men, is allegedly targeting women, attempting to drag them to isolated areas. The escalating situation has prompted a large-scale police investigation, including the deployment of drones for surveillance and the installation of CCTV cameras.

The incidents have primarily been reported in the Daurala area, with Bharaala village being a focal point of concern. Reports indicate that the "nude gang" members approach women, often when they are alone, and try to abduct them, dragging them towards secluded fields. In the most recent case, two men allegedly tried to abduct a woman on her way to work in Bharaala village. The woman screamed and managed to free herself from their grasp. Alerted by her cries, villagers rushed to the scene, but the attackers had already disappeared. The woman described her assaliants as unclothed.

The police have taken the matter seriously, launching a full-fledged investigation to apprehend the culprits and reassure the frightened community. Drones are being used to monitor the affected areas, providing an aerial view of the fields and surrounding terrain. CCTV cameras have also been installed in strategic locations to enhance surveillance and gather evidence. Additionally, women police officers have been deployed to patrol the area and provide a visible presence, aiming to deter potential attackers and offer support to the women in the community.

Vipin Tada, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), personally inspected the site and affirmed that authorities are using drones and working with villagers in their search, but so far no suspects have been found.

While the police investigation is underway, the "nude gang" scare has had a palpable impact on daily life in the affected areas. Some families are so fearful that they have confined themselves to their homes, afraid of venturing out. Others believe that the incidents are being exaggerated or are the work of mischief-makers seeking to tarnish the reputation of the police and local authorities.

Despite the differing opinions, the fear among women is undeniable. The local community is on edge, and there is a growing sense of unease as they await a breakthrough in the investigation. The police have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately. They are also encouraging women to avoid traveling alone, especially in isolated areas, and to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

The incidents began around September 25th, with a series of attacks following. The initial incident on September 25th was not taken seriously, but a subsequent attack on September 28th, involving a schoolgirl, prompted a formal complaint to the police. Since then, there have been additional incidents, bringing the total to at least four reported cases.
