In the late hours of Friday, September 5th, and the early hours of Saturday, September 6th, the home of Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari in Indore was targeted in an attempted robbery. A group of masked individuals, numbering more than half a dozen, broke into the property, causing disruption and instilling fear in the neighborhood.
The incident occurred in the Bijalpur area of Rajendra Nagar, with the gang arriving at approximately 2:00 AM. Their first action was to cut the electricity supply to the house, disabling the CCTV cameras installed on the premises. The intruders then forced their way into the property, ransacking the office area, breaking drawers and lockers. However, they did not steal any valuables, including mobile phones, which has led to suspicions that the raid had ulterior motives beyond simple robbery.
The gang's activities were not limited to Patwari's residence. During their two-and-a-half-hour rampage, they targeted at least three other homes in the vicinity. These included the homes of Nagar Panchayat CMO Rajkumar Thakur, MPEB officer Narendra Dubey, and the Arya family in Punasa. In each case, the burglars attempted to break in by cutting through window nets, leaving the families terrified after they woke up to find their homes vandalized. Residents reported that the gang was last seen in the Bijalpur area around 4:30 AM.
While the CCTV cameras at Patwari's home were disabled due to the power cut, neighboring residences captured the masked men on their security systems. Narendra Dubey and Rajkumar Thakur's cameras recorded the goons entering Patwari's property.
Authorities were alerted to the incident by Ashish Sharma, who manages Patwari's office. Police have launched an investigation into the attempted robbery. Sources suggest that the "Baank Taanda gang" may be involved, as several members of this gang have been previously arrested by the Tejaji Nagar police, although many are currently out on bail.
