Sivakarthikeyan's latest action entertainer, "Madharaasi," is showing a downward trend at the box office, with its sixth day of release marking its lowest single-day earnings. The film, directed by AR Murugadoss and also starring Rukmini Vasanth and Vidyut Jammwal, had generated considerable anticipation, particularly due to Sivakarthikeyan's portrayal of an action hero. However, despite positive reviews for his performance, this hasn't translated into substantial box office success.
On its sixth day, "Madharaasi" managed to collect ₹1.79 crore, bringing its total domestic earnings to ₹46.29 crore. Other reports indicate slightly different figures, with one source suggesting ₹3.50 crore for day 6 and a total of ₹46.15 crore in Tamil Nadu. Another report shows early trends of ₹1.11 crore for day 6 and a total of ₹45.61 crore. These numbers indicate a significant drop from its opening day gross of ₹13.65 crore, and the film is yet to cross the ₹50 crore mark in India.
The movie's performance has steadily declined since its release. In Tamil Nadu, the film opened with ₹12.30 crore, followed by ₹11 crore on Saturday and ₹10.45 crore on Sunday, accumulating ₹33.75 crore over the first weekend. The downward trend continued into the weekdays, with Monday seeing collections of ₹4.90 crore and Tuesday ₹4 crore. This decline of 12% on day 6 indicates the film is struggling to maintain momentum.
Despite the film's box office struggles, Sivakarthikeyan received praise from Superstar Rajinikanth, who lauded his performance and action sequences. This appreciation from his "Thalaivar" was shared by Sivakarthikeyan on social media, expressing his joy and gratitude.
"Madharaasi" is a psychological action thriller. Whether the film will be a hit depends on whether it crosses the ₹180 crore benchmark, which is the film's estimated budget. The coming days will be crucial in determining its ultimate box office fate.
