Passengers on an Air India flight AI2380, bound for Singapore, experienced significant disruption at Delhi Airport on Wednesday evening. Over 200 passengers were forced to deboard the aircraft after already being seated for nearly two hours, due to a malfunctioning air conditioning system and faulty electrical supply. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner was originally scheduled to depart around 11 pm.

According to a PTI journalist who was on board, the crew did not initially provide a specific reason for the deplaning. However, Air India later stated that the delay was due to a "cabin cooling issue" and apologized for the inconvenience. Passengers were taken back to the terminal building where they were provided with refreshments and meals.

Videos circulating on social media showed passengers attempting to cool themselves with newspapers and magazines while still on the aircraft. The flight eventually departed at 5:36 am on Thursday after an alternative aircraft was arranged.

This incident is the latest in a string of issues faced by Air India flights recently. Just weeks ago, an Air India flight had to make an emergency landing in Delhi following a fire warning in one of its engines. Furthermore, several Air India flights between Delhi and Kathmandu were cancelled recently due to violent anti-government protests in Nepal.

Air India has offered a one-time waiver on rescheduling fees for bookings to or from Kathmandu until September 11 for tickets issued by September 9. Passengers are advised to check the Air India website or app for real-time updates and to confirm details before heading to the airport. The airline also has a 24/7 call center for assistance.

Passengers who need documented proof of a flight delay or cancellation can request a Flight Disruption Statement from Air India.
