After nearly five years together, actress Nina Dobrev and Olympic snowboarder Shaun White have ended their relationship and called off their engagement. The split comes nearly a year after White proposed in October 2024 with a 5-carat diamond ring.

News of the breakup was confirmed on September 11, 2025, by a source close to the couple. According to the source, the decision to split was mutual, made with "love and a deep respect for one another". Reps for Dobrev and White have not commented publicly.

Dobrev, 36, and White, 39, reportedly met at a Tony Robbins event in 2019. They started dating shortly after, with their relationship confirmed publicly in early 2020. White shared photos of Dobrev giving him a quarantine haircut in May 2020, making their relationship Instagram official. The couple moved in together at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. White told People that Dobrev was very supportive and amazing during that time, and she "really made that time in my life special".

In October 2024, White proposed to Dobrev in New York City. He created a ruse involving a fake invitation to a CFDA/Vogue dinner with Anna Wintour to surprise Dobrev.
