Siddharth is set to star opposite Freida Pinto in Netflix's upcoming drama series, Unaccustomed Earth. The series, based on Jhumpa Lahiri's collection of short stories, is created by John Wells and Madhuri Shekar, with Ritesh Batra directing. Netflix has commissioned eight episodes for the series.
Siddharth will play Amit Mukherjee, a Bengali-American man raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Amit is described as warm-hearted and someone who openly expresses his emotions, often to his own detriment. He is the reliable friend everyone turns to in a crisis but struggles to find stability in his career and love life. As his latest relationship begins to show promise, his life is disrupted by the unexpected reappearance of a long-lost love. Pinto will play Parul Chaudhury, a devoted wife who is the long-lost love of Amit.
Unaccustomed Earth is described as an epic, soapy, and culturally vibrant drama about a tight-knit Indian American community navigating love, desire, and belonging. The series delves into the elite and insular Indian American community of Cambridge, MA. When a star-crossed romance between Parul and Amit comes to light, a scandalous affair ignites, creating new conflicts within the interconnected immigrant community.
The series is executive produced by John Wells, Madhuri Shekar, Ritesh Batra, Jhumpa Lahiri, Nisha Ganatra, Erica Saleh, Erin Jontow, and Celia Costas. Madhuri Shekar also serves as the showrunner and writer. Ritesh Batra will direct the first two episodes.
Siddharth is known for his roles in Rang De Basanti, Chithha, and Bommarillu. This role in Unaccustomed Earth marks his debut in the American and global entertainment markets. He joins previously announced cast members Freida Pinto, Sarayu Blue, Indraneil Sengupta, Adi Roy, and Iyla Sundarsingh Mckaig.
Principal photography began in August 2025 and is expected to continue through the end of the year.
Siddharth's recent projects include the Netflix sports drama Test, alongside Nayanthara and R Madhavan, as well as web series like Leila, Navarasa, and Escaype Live. He is also set to appear in Indian 3 with Kamal Haasan, expected to premiere in late 2025 or early 2026.
