The family of the late businessman Sunjay Kapur is embroiled in a contentious inheritance battle, with his children Samaira and Kiaan Raj Kapur, from his ex-wife Karisma Kapoor, challenging his will in the Delhi High Court. The siblings allege that their stepmother, Priya Sachdev Kapur, forged the will to become the sole beneficiary of Sunjay's vast estate, estimated to be worth ₹30,000 crore.

Adding another layer to the dispute, Sunjay's mother, Rani Kapur, has also contested the will, claiming she was unfairly excluded from what she believes is her rightful share of ₹10,000 crore. She alleges that after Sunjay's marriage to Priya Sachdev, she was left with nothing.

Amidst this legal turmoil, Sunjay Kapur's sister, Mandhira Kapur Smith, has emerged as a strong supporter of Karisma Kapoor and her children. She has publicly voiced her support for Samaira and Kiaan, stating that it "doesn't make sense" for Sunjay to exclude them from his will, given their close relationship with him.

Mandhira has also expressed her disappointment and shock that Samaira and Kiaan have been "cut off" from the will. She finds it "bizarre" that Priya Sachdev is named as the sole beneficiary, considering Sunjay's bond with his children.

In a statement to ANI, Mandhira stated that she stands by Karisma Kapoor's children because it doesn't add up that their father would not include them in the will. She welcomed the Delhi High Court's direction for Priya Sachdev to disclose a complete list of Sunjay's assets, expressing hope that it would bring clarity and transparency to the matter.

Mandhira and Karisma share a close bond, having grown up together and considering each other "best friends". Mandhira emphasized that Karisma is family to them and that they will stand by each other and do what is right.

Mandhira has also indirectly criticized Priya Sachdev, alleging that "one person took everything". She highlighted that Sunjay's wealth was created by his father and grown by him, and it was supposed to be distributed equally among the family members. She further claimed that her mother, Rani Kapur, does not even have a roof over her head.

Mandhira revealed that her mother was allegedly forced to sign documents without knowing what she was signing. She recounted an incident where she was banging on the door, unaware of what was happening inside, and her mother later told her that she had signed something she didn't understand. Since then, they have been trying to find out what Rani Kapur signed, but they have not received any answers.

The Delhi High Court has directed Priya Sachdev to file a comprehensive list of all movable and immovable assets owned by Sunjay at the time of his death. The court has scheduled the matter for further hearing on October 9. The coming weeks in court will be crucial for Karisma's children as the battle over Sunjay Kapur's estate continues.

Sunjay Kapur passed away on June 12, 2025, reportedly from cardiac arrest during a polo match in London. Karisma Kapoor was married to Sunjay Kapur from 2003 to 2016. As part of their divorce settlement, Karisma was granted custody of their children, while Sunjay had visitation rights.
