A heated courtroom exchange between lawyers representing Karisma Kapoor's children and Priya Sachdev Kapur, the widow of the late Sunjay Kapur, has gone viral after a video of the incident was shared by Bar and Bench. The argument occurred during a hearing in the Delhi High Court regarding the inheritance dispute over Sunjay Kapur's estate, estimated to be worth ₹30,000 crore.

The dispute centers on Sunjay Kapur's will and the claims of his children, Samaira and Kiaan, from his marriage to Karisma Kapoor, who are seeking their share of the property. They have accused Priya Sachdev of withholding key documents and altering their father's will. Priya Sachdev, on the other hand, contends that Samaira and Kiaan have already received ₹1,900 crore from the family trust and questions the validity of their additional claims.

The courtroom clash involved senior advocates Mahesh Jethmalani, representing Karisma Kapoor's children, and Rajiv Nayar, representing Priya Sachdev. According to reports, the argument escalated when Nayar told Jethmalani, "Don't interrupt me," to which Jethmalani retorted, "Don't shout at me". He further added, "You should get a taste of your own medicine and don't shout at me... If you shout, you'll get paid back in coin. I am not a pushover". The judge, Justice Jyoti Singh, was present during the heated exchange.

During the hearing, the Delhi High Court directed Priya Sachdev to disclose all of Sunjay Kapur's movable and immovable assets as of June 12, the day he passed away. Samaira and Kiaan have filed a lawsuit seeking partition of assets, rendition of accounts, and a permanent injunction over their late father's estate. They claim that Priya Sachdev initially informed them and their mother that no will existed and that all assets were under the RK Family Trust. However, weeks later, a will dated March 21, 2025, "mysteriously emerged".

Mahesh Jethmalani clarified Karisma Kapoor's stance, stating that she "doesn't want anything for herself" and that the litigation aims to secure her children's inheritance in the manner their late father intended. He refuted Priya Sachdev's claim that the children had already been allotted ₹1,900 crore, arguing that they are entitled to a fair share of the ₹30,000 crore estate. Jethmalani questioned why Priya Sachdev was not disclosing the will if it was genuine, emphasizing that the assets belong to Sunjay Kapur and that "nobody is doing us a favor". He also questioned if Priya Sachdev would forgo the remaining ₹28,000 crore that goes to her.

Adding another layer to the dispute, Sunjay Kapur's mother, Rani Kapur, has also claimed assets worth ₹10,000 crore, alleging she was not informed of any documents regarding her late son's will. The next hearing in the matter is scheduled for October 9.
