In a tragic incident in Delhi, Navjot Singh, a 52-year-old Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs under the Union Finance Ministry, lost his life after a BMW struck his motorcycle on September 14, 2025. The accident occurred near the Delhi Cantonment metro station. Singh's wife, Sandeep Kaur, who was riding pillion, sustained critical injuries and is currently hospitalized.

The couple was returning home from Bangla Sahib Gurudwara when the accident took place on Ring Road. According to eyewitnesses, a woman, later identified as Gaganpreet, was driving the BMW. Her husband, Parikshit, was also in the car. After the collision, the BMW was found sideways on the road, and the motorcycle was near the divider. The impact of the crash pushed the motorcycle into a road divider and then into a bus.

Following the accident, Gaganpreet and Parikshit reportedly took Navjot Singh and his injured wife to Nulife Hospital in GTB Nagar. This hospital is approximately 17-19 kilometers away from the accident site. This decision to transport the injured couple to a hospital so far away has raised serious questions.

Navjot Singh's son, Navnoor Singh, has voiced concerns that his father might have survived if he had been taken to a closer hospital. He questioned why his parents were admitted to a hospital in GTB Nagar when the accident occurred near Dhaula Kuan. He emphasized the importance of time in such critical situations.

Adding a shocking twist to the case, it has emerged that Nulife Hospital is co-owned by Gaganpreet's family. Sources indicate that her father is one of the partners who own the hospital. This revelation has fueled allegations of a potential conflict of interest and raised further questions about the decision to transport the victims to that particular hospital. Navnoor Singh also alleged that the hospital may be assisting in concealing the driver's condition and preparing a false medico-legal certificate.

Delhi Police have registered a case and have booked Gaganpreet under sections of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and for attempting to destroy evidence. The case has been registered under sections 281 (rash driving), 125B (acts endangering life or personal safety), 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 238 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police have seized the BMW and the motorcycle involved in the accident. A crime team and forensic experts have examined the site, and further investigations are underway.
