Heavy rainfall and cloudbursts in Uttarakhand's Dehradun and other regions have caused significant devastation, resulting in at least 15 fatalities and leaving 16 individuals missing. The extreme weather event, which occurred on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, led to swollen rivers washing away buildings, roads, and bridges, stranding approximately 900 people.

Key Points:

  • Casualties and Missing Persons: At least 15 people have died, with 13 deaths reported in Dehradun district, and one each in Nainital and Pithoragarh districts. Sixteen people are still missing in various parts of Dehradun.

Landslides have blocked major access routes from Mussoorie to Dehradun, including Jharipani, Chunakhala and Kimadi roads, isolating the affected areas.
