Soha Ali Khan, the youngest of Sharmila Tagore and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi's children, recently shared insights into her childhood and her relationship with her older brother, Saif Ali Khan. In a candid interview, she revealed some of the reasons why she wasn't allowed to sleep in Saif's room when he came home from boarding school.
Growing up, Soha and Saif were not particularly close due to their nine-year age difference. When Soha was born, Saif went abroad for studies. When he returned, he began working in film, and Soha went to study at Oxford. It wasn't until later, after Soha came to Mumbai, that they began spending more time together and developed a closer bond.
During his school holidays, Saif was perceived as a bit of a rebel. Soha explained that their parents often used Saif as an example of what not to do. Saif would dye his hair red and sneak out at night. Worried about his influence, their parents didn't allow Soha to sleep in his room when he was home. Soha shared, "He was sort of a rebel as a child, and my parents used to take his example and tell us what not to do. The room that I had growing up actually was his room, but when he came over, I wasn't allowed to sleep there because he would often jump out the window at night and come back at unusual hours. He did a lot of things, and my parents didn't let me sleep in that room because they thought I already looked like him, so I should at least not turn out like him".
Soha also spoke about a chilling incident that occurred at her own home a decade ago. She revealed that her house was also the target of a theft. Her husband, Kunal Kemmu, bravely confronted the thief, apprehended him, and took him to the police station. Soha expressed her unease, noting that such incidents happening to two members of the same family felt "a bit too close to home". She also compared this incident to the recent violent attack on Saif Ali Khan, emphasizing the extreme level of violence involved in her brother's case, which she found particularly disturbing.
Soha has been open about various aspects of her life, from her career choices to her family dynamics. She initially pursued a career in banking before transitioning to Bollywood. Soha's mother was initially disappointed with her decision to join films.
Soha also shared a spooky incident that her family experienced in their ancestral home, Peeli Kothi, next to Pataudi Palace. Before moving to Pataudi Palace, her great aunt was allegedly slapped by a ghost, leaving a visible mark on her face. Soha clarified that she never experienced anything paranormal herself, but she had heard the story.
