Assam CID Submits Zubeen Garg Autopsy Report to Wife: Investigation Nears Completion, Family Awaits Closure.

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Assam has handed over the second autopsy report of singer Zubeen Garg to his wife, Garima Saikia Garg. An officer from the CID's Special Investigation Team (SIT) personally delivered the report to Garima's residence in Kahilipara, Guwahati. The Assam Police handed over the report on Saturday.

This follows the first post-mortem report, which was conducted in Singapore where Garg passed away, and was given to Garima on Thursday.

Zubeen Garg's death is currently under investigation by a nine-member SIT formed under the CID. The Assam government has also constituted a one-man judicial commission to carry out a parallel inquiry into the case. Justice Soumitra Saikia of Gauhati High Court will head the commission. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has requested those with information related to Zubeen's death to come forward and share it with the commission.

Garg traveled to Singapore to participate in the 4th edition of the NorthEast India Festival, organized by Shyamkanu Mahanta and his company. Following his death on September 19, festival organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta, Garg's manager Siddharth Sharma, and two band members – Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and Amritprabha Mahanta – were arrested and have been remanded to 14 days in police custody.

The second post-mortem was conducted at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on September 23, just hours before Garg's cremation. Viscera samples collected during the autopsy were subsequently sent to the Central Forensic Laboratory (CFL) in Delhi. Authorities are awaiting the viscera report from the CFL. Once the viscera report is received, the post-mortem report by the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital will be ready.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) shared a copy of Zubeen Garg's autopsy report and preliminary findings with the Indian High Commission, following the artist's death in Singapore last month. The handover was made at the request of Indian authorities.

The CID has received over 60 FIRs across Assam against Mahanta and nearly 10 others, including Garg's manager Siddharth Sharma, in connection with the singer's death. Investigations are ongoing and additional legal sections have been added to the FIR, including Section 103 of the BNS, which deals with the punishment for murder.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Income Tax (I-T) Department are expected to join the Assam Police in probing an alleged financial scam and the acquisition of benami properties linked to event manager Shyamkanu Mahanta. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Assam Police has reportedly uncovered financial irregularities dating back over 20 years, allegedly committed by Mahanta during his tenure at a non-banking.
