Alwar man's arrest: Accusations of espionage and suspected ties with Pakistan raise security concerns.

Alwar, Rajasthan – A man identified as Mangat Singh from the Alwar district of Rajasthan has been apprehended for allegedly spying for Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The arrest was made by Rajasthan Intelligence as part of "Operation Sindoor," which involves close monitoring of strategic areas within the state. Alwar, being part of the National Capital Region (NCR), is considered a strategically important location.

According to officials, Singh had been under surveillance due to suspicious activities in the Alwar cantonment area. Investigations revealed that he had been in contact with Pakistani intelligence handlers via social media for the past two years. He was allegedly honey-trapped by a female Pakistani handler using the pseudonym "Isha Sharma," who offered him money in exchange for sensitive information. Singh reportedly saved the handler's contact information under names like "Isha Sharma" and "Isha Boss".

Singh is accused of sharing sensitive details related to the Alwar cantonment area and other strategic sites in India through social media platforms. The information included photos and videos linked to Army and Border Security Force (BSF) movements, particularly from the Alwar and Ambala Cantonment areas. He allegedly received over Rs 10,000 in multiple transactions from Pakistan in exchange for the information.

Following his arrest on October 10, 2025, Singh was interrogated by various intelligence agencies at the Central Enquiry Centre in Jaipur. A technical examination of his mobile phone confirmed his involvement in espionage activities. A case has been registered against him under the Official Secrets Act, 1923, at the Special Police Station, Jaipur. On Saturday, he was produced before a special court in Jaipur and remanded in police custody for three days.

Mangat Singh, known locally as a 'Siddh Purush', reportedly used his participation in religious gatherings to build trust with both defense personnel and civilians. This allowed him to gather sensitive information more easily. He worked in a factory in Alwar. The investigation also revealed that Singh's mobile phone contained records of sensitive exchanges, including coded messages hinting at troop movements.

The arrest highlights the ongoing efforts by Pakistani intelligence agencies to gather information on Indian military activities. It also underscores the vulnerability of individuals to honey-trap operations on social media. Authorities are continuing to investigate the extent of the information compromised and any other individuals who may be involved.
