Amidst an ongoing legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, startling new allegations have surfaced, claiming Lively asked Taylor Swift to delete text messages. Baldoni's legal team alleges that Lively pressured Swift to publicly support her in the legal dispute, implying that private texts between the two friends would be released if Swift didn't comply.
The accusation comes as part of a months-long legal conflict between Lively, 37, and Baldoni, 41, stemming from harassment claims on the set of their film, "It Ends With Us". According to court documents, Baldoni's lawyers claim an anonymous source with "highly likely to have reliable information" informed them of Lively's request to Swift, 35, to delete their text messages. The exact timing of this alleged conversation remains undisclosed.
Baldoni's legal team further alleges that Lively's attorney, Michael Gottlieb, contacted Swift's law firm, Venable, requesting a public statement of support from the pop star. The legal team claims that Lively's attorney implied that if Swift refused to issue a statement, private text messages of a personal nature in Lively's possession would be released. Baldoni's lawyers assert these communications "would evidence an attempt to intimidate and coerce a percipient witness in this litigation". They are seeking to obtain these communications via subpoena.
In response, Lively's lawyer has vehemently denied the allegations. He stated that the claims are "categorically false and untethered from reality". Lively's legal team has filed a motion requesting that Justin Baldoni's claims about Taylor Swift be stricken from the record, noting the claims were filed without any evidentiary support.
Taylor Swift's involvement in the case began earlier this year. Baldoni's team subpoenaed Swift, arguing she may have information relevant to the case. Swift's representatives have pushed back against the subpoena, calling it a "tabloid clickbait". Her reps told ET that she only licensed a song for the film and "was not involved in any creative decisions or made any notes". However, Baldoni's team suggests there may be evidence to the contrary, including an alleged text submitted in court documents saying Taylor loved and signed off on the pages.
Adding another layer to the situation, Ryan Reynolds' ex, Scarlett Johansson, told Vanity Fair that Justin Baldoni's production company was super supportive while financing her upcoming directorial debut, "Eleanor the Great," adding, "Yeah such weird timing".
The judge has struck the claims, saying the sole purpose is to promote public scandal by advancing inflammatory accusations.
