In a significant diplomatic push, India is dispatching seven all-party parliamentary delegations to key global capitals to reinforce its zero-tolerance stance against terrorism. This initiative, a first of its kind, aims to present a united front against cross-border terrorism and amplify India's narrative on the international stage. The delegations, comprising around 40 Members of Parliament and prominent political figures from across the political spectrum, will visit important partner nations, including members of the United Nations Security Council. The tours are expected to begin on May 23 and last for about 10 days, with each group covering five to eight countries. Destinations are likely to include the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates.
The all-party delegations reflect a rare moment of political consensus on matters of national security. Leading these crucial diplomatic missions are seven senior Members of Parliament, each representing a different political party, showcasing India's bipartisan resolve on national security. The delegation heads are Shashi Tharoor (INC), Ravi Shankar Prasad (BJP), Sanjay Kumar Jha (JDU), Baijayant Panda (BJP), Kanimozhi Karunanidhi (DMK), Supriya Sule (NCP), and Shrikant Eknath Shinde (Shiv Sena).
These multi-party delegations reflect a rare moment of political consensus on matters of national security. The initiative also signals India's firm commitment to take its case against terrorism to the global stage, emphasizing that acts of terror, especially those originating across the border, will not go unanswered.
The Ministry of External Affairs, along with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, is coordinating the effort, preparing detailed dossiers on terror activities and Pakistan's involvement. An MEA official will accompany each delegation to provide diplomatic support.
The campaign follows Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7 in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives. NCP-SCP MP Supriya Sule, commenting on the initiative, emphasized national unity, stating, "When it is a question of our nation, we are all together. Each committee will have five members and will tour multiple countries to present India's perspective on Operation Sindoor".
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju shared the announcement on X, stating, “In moments that matter most, Bharat stands united. Seven All-Party Delegations will soon visit key partner nations, carrying our shared message of zero-tolerance to terrorism. A powerful reflection of national unity above politics, beyond differences". India's precision strikes in Pakistan and PoJK on May 7 killed over 100 terrorists.
