The Taj Mahal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of India's rich cultural heritage, is set to receive a significant upgrade to its security apparatus. An advanced anti-drone system will soon be installed at the complex to neutralize potential aerial threats. This move comes in response to increasing drone-related incidents and heightened security concerns in the region.
According to a senior official, the installation of the anti-drone system is aimed at bolstering the existing security measures provided by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Uttar Pradesh Police. The decision to implement this technology follows India's recent military operations, codenamed "Operation Sindoor," which targeted terror hubs across the border in response to a massacre. The increased use of drones in conflicts and potential security breaches has highlighted the need for robust anti-drone measures at sensitive locations like the Taj Mahal.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Taj Security), Syed Arib Ahmad, announced that the anti-drone system would be operational within days. The system boasts a range of 7-8 kilometers but will be most effective within a 200-meter radius around the monument's main dome. It will employ a "soft kill" approach, jamming the signals of unauthorized drones and effectively disabling them mid-air. This method allows for the safe neutralization of drones without causing physical damage to the monument or its surroundings.
In addition to the technological upgrade, police personnel are undergoing specialized training to operate the new system. A dedicated response team is also being formed to trace the origin of any intercepted drones and secure the area where they are brought down. This comprehensive approach ensures that the anti-drone system is not only effective in neutralizing threats but also in gathering intelligence and preventing future incidents. The installation is expected to be completed shortly, marking a significant step in safeguarding one of India's most treasured national symbols. The Taj Mahal is not only a cultural landmark, but also a symbol of national pride, making its protection a top priority for security agencies.
