In a chilling incident that has sent shockwaves through Lucknow, a 14-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 70-year-old grandmother. The tragic event unfolded in Mujaasa village of Malihabad, revealing a disturbing tale of familial betrayal and the devastating consequences of unchecked rage.

According to police reports, the teenager confessed to the crime, stating that he committed the act in a fit of anger after his grandmother refused to give him Rs 2,600. The sum was reportedly intended to cover various expenses, including Rs 500 for perfume and an outing, and Rs 2,100 for school fees.

The boy's account reveals a disturbing level of premeditation and callousness. After the murder, he allegedly slept next to his grandmother's body throughout the night to avoid raising suspicion. The following morning, he locked the door from the outside using a brick and informed a neighbor that his grandmother was unwell before leaving for school as if nothing had occurred.

The crime was discovered when the victim's daughter, residing in Alambagh, grew concerned after being unable to reach her mother by phone. She contacted a neighbor, Kalawati, to check on her. Upon entering the house, Kalawati, accompanied by another woman, found the elderly woman's lifeless body on the bed and immediately raised an alarm. The boy returned to the scene shortly afterward and was taken into custody.

During police interrogation, the boy confessed to the murder, stating that he lost control after being denied the money. He claimed that his grandmother pushed him, which triggered his violent reaction, leading him to strangle her. He further admitted to using a pillow to smother her, ensuring she was dead.

The victim, Vidyavati Devi, had a particularly poignant history with her grandson. Following the deaths of his parents, Prema and Rahul, over a decade ago, Vidyavati sought custody of the boy through a Lucknow court. She raised him as her own, providing care and support despite facing hardship and poverty. She even opened a small grocery shop to provide for him. Tragically, her years of devotion ended with her life being taken by the very person she had nurtured.

Adding another layer of complexity to the case, Vidyavati's daughters have alleged that her brother-in-law, Radheshyam, may have orchestrated the murder in an attempt to seize municipal land. These allegations are currently being investigated by the authorities.

The police have registered a case at the Malihabad police station, and a forensic team has been deployed to gather evidence from the scene. The boy is currently in police custody, and the investigation is ongoing. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of addressing anger management issues and providing mental health support to young individuals.
