Diljit Dosanjh is set to charm audiences once again with his upcoming film, "Detective Sherdil," a unique blend of comedy and mystery slated to premiere on ZEE5 on June 20, 2025. This marks Dosanjh's return to the comedy genre, showcasing his versatility as an actor after his serious role in the film "Jogi" also produced by Ali Abbas Zafar.

"Detective Sherdil" promises to be a hilarious and thrilling ride, following the journey of an unconventional detective assigned to solve an extraordinary case. The film was shot in Budapest, adding an international flair to the story. The movie also stars Diana Penty and Boman Irani in pivotal roles.

The film is written by Ali Abbas Zafar, Sagar Bajaj, and Ravi Chhabriya. "Detective Sherdil" also marks the directorial debut of Ravi Chhabriya, who has previously worked as an assistant director to Zafar on blockbuster films like "Sultan," "Bharat," and "Tiger Zinda Hai." The movie is produced by Himanshu Mehra, Ali Abbas Zafar, Rohini Singh, and Manmeet Singh.

According to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), "Detective Sherdil" has been given a UA certification, meaning it is suitable for viewing by all age groups with parental guidance for children under 13. The plot revolves around Detective Sherdil, described as the sharpest mind in Budapest's crime scene, as he investigates the perplexing murder of an Indian-origin telecom tycoon. The investigation leads him through a labyrinth of scams, family secrets, and conflicting confessions.

Ali Abbas Zafar expressed his enthusiasm for working with Diljit Dosanjh again, stating, "Diljit and I have previously worked on Jogi. After wrapping that film, I was sure we must work together again. He is one of the biggest stars we have, and now, as we bring Detective Sherdil to audiences, I still can't believe we've wrapped up our second collaboration! Our film will charm you with comedy, and thrill you with mystery; it's an out and out family watch."

Himanshu Mehra echoed this sentiment, saying, "There are very few stars who have the versatility to pull off humor with the same ease as they handle suspense. Diljit is one such star actor. I'm very excited to bring families all over together for this thrilling ride on Zee5 on 20th June 2025."

Kaveri Das, Business Head - Hindi, ZEE5, shared her thoughts on what audiences can expect from the film: "At ZEE5, we understand the enduring charm of a good whodunit--but we also know today's viewers want more than just clues and culprits. With Detective Sherdil, we're dialing up the mystery and mixing it with a twist of wit and unconventional storytelling. Think shadowy secrets, eccentric suspects, and plot turns you won't see coming--all delivered with a wink."

Earlier reports suggested that the film was initially slated for release on Netflix, but it will now premiere on ZEE5. Diljit Dosanjh had revealed in an interview that he agreed to do "Detective Sherdil" without even reading the script, trusting Ali Abbas Zafar's vision.

Adding to his already impressive list of achievements, Diljit Dosanjh made history earlier this month with his debut at the Met Gala 2025, becoming the first Indian turban-wearing man to attend the event. He continues to make waves in both the music and film industries.

"Detective Sherdil" is highly anticipated and is expected to further solidify Diljit Dosanjh's position as a versatile and beloved entertainer.
