A recent revelation by celebrity hairdresser Aalim Hakim has brought to light a surprising incident from the sets of the 2005 film Dus, involving Abhishek Bachchan and a prop gun. Hakim recounted the incident in an interview, detailing how a lighthearted moment turned slightly painful during the film's production in Canada.
Hakim, who was initially hired as a hairdresser for the film starring Sanjay Dutt and Abhishek Bachchan, found himself unexpectedly filling in as an assistant director when the original team fell ill. This twist of fate led to a closer working relationship with Bachchan, who, according to Hakim, is known for his playful nature.
"I was doing everyone's hair on the film Dus in Canada," Hakim explained. "For some reason, all of Anubhav Sinha's assistants fell ill. They roped me in as a replacement. Abhishek Bachchan became an assistant, and I became Abhishek Bachchan's assistant. I did the job for five days. I would do their hair as well, and also maintain continuity between shots."
According to Hakim, Bachchan jokingly warned him about maintaining continuity in the film. "Abhishek said, 'Aalim, agar tune baal banate banate continuity miss ki, I'll put a bullet in your leg'," Hakim recalled. Bachchan then playfully brandished a prop gun.
The situation took an unexpected turn when, as Hakim describes, he made a mistake, and Bachchan began firing the prop gun in his direction, jokingly, towards the ground. Unfortunately, one of the prop bullets ricocheted and struck Hakim. "How it hurt… I couldn't walk for 10 days," Hakim stated.
While the incident resulted in a painful injury for Hakim, he emphasized that it was entirely accidental and a result of Bachchan's playful nature. He also mentioned that other actors on set joked with Bachchan after the incident, saying, "Because of your jokes, we don't have anyone to do our hair also now." Hakim laughingly added that Suniel Shetty and Ajay Devgn are also big pranksters.
Hakim also shared that his family has a long-standing relationship with the Bachchan family. His father, now deceased, worked with Amitabh Bachchan and even gave a young Abhishek his first haircut.
Notably, this isn't the only controversy that has been associated with Abhishek Bachchan and the movie Dus. Back in 2007, just before Abhishek's wedding with Aishwarya Rai, a model named Jhanvi Kapoor, who had worked with Abhishek in Dus, claimed to be married to him and even attempted suicide.
Despite the prop gun incident, Hakim holds no ill will towards Bachchan, attributing it to a harmless prank gone wrong. The hairdresser continues to be a successful figure in the Bollywood industry, charging a considerable amount per session.
