Muzammil Ibrahim is an Indian actor and model who recently made headlines for opening up about his past relationship with Deepika Padukone. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Muzammil revealed that he and Deepika dated for two years in the early 2000s, during their early careers in the entertainment industry in Mumbai.
Before his recent revelations about Deepika Padukone, Muzammil Ibrahim was primarily known for his work in Bollywood and the Indian modeling industry. He gained initial recognition as a successful model, appearing in various music videos and fashion shows. In 2007, he made his Bollywood debut with the film "Dhokha," produced by Mahesh Bhatt and directed by Pooja Bhatt. Despite receiving positive reviews for his performance, Muzammil has described his experience on the set as emotionally distressing, alleging mistreatment by the director, Pooja Bhatt.
Muzammil shared that Deepika was the first person he met after she moved to Mumbai to pursue her modeling career. He recalled their early days with fondness, describing them as simple and memorable. They would often go on rickshaw dates, especially during the monsoon season. Muzammil mentioned that he had more money than Deepika at the time, as he had started earning better. He fondly remembers buying a car and how happy it made her. He recounted a special memory from Deepika's birthday where he arranged for the DJ to play her favorite song for an hour and a half, even though he didn't have much money.
Interestingly, Muzammil revealed that it was Deepika who first asked him out, but he was the one who eventually ended the relationship. He expressed admiration for her current success, acknowledging that she is now a superstar while he is not as widely known. He stated that he is a big fan of her work and finds her to be a beautiful woman.
In the interview, Muzammil also shared that they haven't been in touch since Deepika married Ranveer Singh in 2018. However, he mentioned that they used to talk occasionally before her marriage and would congratulate each other on their achievements.
Besides his relationship with Deepika and his debut in "Dhokha", Muzammil Ibrahim has also spoken about facing mistreatment on the sets of "Dhokha" by Pooja Bhatt. He has also expressed his opinion that he deserved the best debut award over Ranbir Kapoor in Saawariya, even claiming that Shah Rukh Khan agreed with him.
