Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has voiced strong approval for the Narendra Modi-led NDA government, particularly highlighting its economic achievements and decisive leadership over the past 11 years. Naidu's endorsement comes at a crucial time, as his Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is a significant constituent of the ruling National Democratic Alliance at the Centre.
Naidu, who recently began his fourth term as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on June 12, 2024, after a sweeping victory in the recent elections, emphasized India's impressive economic ascent under the NDA's governance. He noted the country's rise from the 10th to the 4th largest economy in the world and projected that India would become the 3rd largest economy within the next two years. He credited this progress entirely to Prime Minister Modi's leadership.
The Chief Minister also lauded the Modi government's decisive actions, citing "Operation Sindoor" as a prime example of extraordinary leadership. He highlighted the operation's swift execution in just 20 minutes, with no harm to civilians, as a testament to the government's efficiency and precision.
Naidu's support extends beyond economic achievements and operational successes. He has expressed confidence in Prime Minister Modi's handling of critical issues such as the delimitation exercise, aimed at re-allocating Lok Sabha seats based on population. Naidu stated his firm belief that Modi would address the concerns of southern states, which fear reduced parliamentary representation if delimitation is based solely on population. He assured that Modi would prioritize national interest and work collaboratively to find an appropriate policy.
Furthermore, Naidu has been actively promoting Andhra Pradesh's growth blueprint on a national stage. Impressed by Naidu's vision, Prime Minister Modi suggested that other states should study Andhra Pradesh's reforms. Naidu highlighted the state's strengths, including its natural resources, geographical advantages, youthful population, urban-rural synergy, and technological advancements, as key drivers for growth. He presented the "Swarnandhra Vision," an ambitious plan to achieve a $2.4 trillion GSDP by 2047 through innovative policies and data-centric governance.
Naidu has also unveiled an ambitious plan to transform Visakhapatnam into the "Mumbai of the South" by developing the Visakha Economic Region, aiming for a $120 billion economy by 2032. This region, encompassing eight coastal districts, is projected to create 20 to 24 lakh jobs and become Andhra Pradesh's primary economic engine. The plan includes developing six ports, seven industrial nodes, 17 major agri-belts, 12 tourism hubs, and six service centers.
While praising the NDA government, Naidu has also offered cautionary advice regarding the intake of leaders from other parties into the TDP. He stressed the importance of thorough background checks to avoid potential harm to the party, particularly from individuals with ulterior motives or criminal backgrounds.
Naidu's positive assessment of the NDA government's performance aligns with a broader sentiment of stability and confidence in Modi's leadership. Despite initial doubts following the 2024 elections, the Modi government has demonstrated resilience and effectively продвигает its agenda, bolstered by strong support from allies like the TDP.
