The highly anticipated "Don 3," starring Ranveer Singh, continues to generate buzz, and the latest update comes from none other than acclaimed musician Shankar Mahadevan. In a recent exclusive interview with Zoom, Mahadevan, who has been associated with the "Don" franchise since its reboot in 2006, shared insights into the film's musical progress.

While fans eagerly await the third installment of the action thriller, Mahadevan revealed that the music setting for "Don 3" is yet to commence. "We haven't started the music setting yet," he stated, adding optimistically, "Hopefully, they (the makers) will be setting soon." This update suggests that the film is still in its early stages of development regarding its musical score.

Mahadevan also reflected on his long-standing professional relationship with Farhan Akhtar and his sister, Zoya Akhtar, emphasizing their significant impact on his career. He fondly recalled that his first video, "Breathless," was directed by the dynamic duo. Furthermore, he highlighted their collaborative work on several of Zoya's films, including "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara," "Dil Dhadakne Do," and "Luck By Chance."

His association with Farhan Akhtar extends to movies such as "Dil Chahta Hai," "Lakshya," "Don," and "Don 2." He expressed that Farhan and Zoya are like family, friends, and true well-wishers. The music for "Don 3" will be composed by the trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, with lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar.

"Don 3," directed by Farhan Akhtar, marks a new era for the franchise with Ranveer Singh taking over the iconic role of Don from Shah Rukh Khan. The film has been a trending topic since the announcement of Singh's casting, with Akhtar reassuring fans that the baton had to be passed on, and Ranveer was the perfect fit.

Initially, Kiara Advani was cast as the female lead, but she has since stepped down, with reports suggesting that Kriti Sanon or Sharvari Wagh may replace her. Vikrant Massey is confirmed to play the antagonist.

Despite earlier rumors of delays, Excel Entertainment, the production house behind the film, has clarified that "Don 3" is progressing as planned. Filming is scheduled to begin in September 2025, with stylized action sequences, including bike chases, planned.

The "Don" franchise began with the 1978 film starring Amitabh Bachchan. Farhan Akhtar rebooted the series in 2006 with "Don: The Chase Begins Again," starring Shah Rukh Khan, followed by "Don 2" in 2011.
