In response to persistent death threats, Bollywood actor Salman Khan has reportedly added a new bulletproof Mercedes-Benz to his already impressive car collection. This acquisition, estimated to cost around Rs 3.4 crore, underscores the serious security concerns surrounding the actor.

The decision to purchase the fortified vehicle comes amidst ongoing threats, primarily from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. These threats have escalated over the past few years, stemming from the infamous 1998 blackbuck poaching case, in which Khan was accused of killing an animal considered sacred by the Bishnoi community.

The threats have manifested in various forms, ranging from direct warnings to more aggressive actions. In April 2024, two individuals on a motorcycle fired shots outside Khan's residence in Bandra, Mumbai. More recently, in April 2025, a fresh death threat was delivered via a WhatsApp message to Mumbai's Transport Department, explicitly mentioning plans to attack Khan's home and blow up his car.

The actor's security has been a significant concern for law enforcement agencies. Following the April 2024 shooting incident, security around his residence was heightened. In addition, authorities have apprehended suspects allegedly involved in plots targeting the actor.

Khan himself has addressed the threats, acknowledging the uncertainty of life and placing his faith in a higher power. However, he has also recognized the challenges of navigating public life with a constant security detail.

This isn't the first time Khan has invested in bulletproof vehicles. In October 2024, reports emerged that he had imported a bulletproof Nissan Patrol SUV from Dubai, estimated at Rs 2 crore, to further enhance his protection. The Nissan Patrol boasts advanced safety features, including explosive alert indicators, thick glass shields capable of withstanding bullet shots, and tinted windows for added privacy. The purchase of the Mercedes-Benz further bolsters his security measures, demonstrating his commitment to personal safety in the face of credible dangers.

The actor's situation reflects the intersection of celebrity, crime, and cultural sensitivities in India. While the blackbuck poaching case remains a contentious issue, the threats against Khan have evolved into a broader security concern, requiring constant vigilance and proactive measures. The addition of the bulletproof Mercedes-Benz to his car collection is a stark reminder of the risks he faces and the lengths he must go to ensure his safety.
