In a shocking incident in Delhi's Timarpur area, a 26-year-old man allegedly shot and killed his father following an argument over who would sit in the front seat of a tempo. The incident occurred on Thursday evening, around 7:30 PM near MS Block, as the family was preparing to move to their native village in Uttarakhand.
The accused has been identified as Deepak. The victim, Surendra Singh, was a 60-year-old retired sub-inspector from the CISF. According to police sources, the family had hired a tempo to transport their belongings to their native place after Surendra Singh's retirement six months prior. An argument ensued between Deepak and Surendra Singh regarding who would occupy the front seat of the vehicle. As the tempo was loaded with items, Surendra Singh insisted on sitting in the front. In a fit of rage, Deepak allegedly retrieved his father's licensed gun and shot him.
Upon hearing the gunshot, patrolling staff rushed to the scene. They found Surendra Singh lying in a pool of blood on the pavement, while locals were attempting to disarm Deepak. Surendra Singh was immediately taken to HRH Hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. The gunshot struck his left cheek, causing multiple pellet injuries to his face.
Deepak was arrested at the scene, and police recovered the gun used in the crime, along with 11 live cartridges. A murder charge has been filed, and investigations are ongoing. This tragic event highlights the devastating consequences of escalating conflicts within families.
