Ayushmann Khurrana is set to star in "Pati Patni Aur Woh 2," and the leading ladies have been revealed as Sara Ali Khan and Wamiqa Gabbi. The sequel to the 2019 hit film "Pati Patni Aur Woh" promises a fresh and contemporary take on the rom-com chaos.

Mudassar Aziz, who directed the original film, returns to helm the sequel, which is set to present an original story with a stronger female perspective. The film will not be a direct continuation of the first part but will explore a new narrative while keeping the essence of the original.

Ayushmann Khurrana will step into the shoes of Kartik Aaryan, playing a middle-class man who finds himself juggling marital expectations and extramarital temptation. Sara Ali Khan will play the role of the "woh" (girlfriend), while Wamiqa Gabbi will portray the "patni" (wife). The makers were looking for "fresh romantic pairings with proven comic timing" to inject new energy into the franchise, and the trio of Ayushmann, Wamiqa, and Sara were found to be a perfect match.

The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series and Juno Chopra's B.R. Studios. It is expected to go on floors in August with a tight two-month shooting schedule.

This is not the first time that Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan will be seen together. The pair have already wrapped up shooting for Dharma Productions' spy comedy, which is expected to hit theaters by the end of the year. Sara Ali Khan is also gearing up for the release of Anurag Basu's "Metro… In Dino" this month. Wamiqa Gabbi, known for her performances in "Jubilee" and "Baby John," has several projects in the pipeline, including "Bhoot Bangla," "Dil Ka Darwaza Khol Na Darling," and "Goodachari 2". Ayushmann will next promote his Diwali release "Thama" and then start Sooraj Barjatya's family drama with Sharvari.

The original "Pati Patni Aur Woh," released in 2019, starred Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar, and Ananya Panday. The film was a remake of the 1978 film of the same name and was a commercial success.
