The football world is in mourning following the tragic death of Liverpool and Portugal forward Diogo Jota, who passed away in a car accident in Spain on Thursday, July 3, 2025. The 28-year-old was reportedly traveling with his brother, Andre Silva, when the accident occurred in Zamora, Spain. Silva also died in the crash.

News of the devastating incident has prompted an outpouring of grief and tributes from fellow players, clubs, and fans across the globe. Among those who have shared their condolences is Cristiano Ronaldo, who posted a heartfelt message on social media expressing his shock and sadness.

Ronaldo's tribute read: "It doesn't make sense. We were just together in the national team, and you had just gotten married. To your family, your wife and your children, I send my condolences and wish them all the strength in the world. I know you will always be with them. Rest in peace, Diogo and André. We will all miss you".

At Liverpool, he won the Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup. He also represented Portugal at Euro 2022 and Euro 2024, and was a two-time Nations League winner. He missed the 2022 World Cup due to a calf muscle injury.

The tributes highlight Jota's impact on and off the field. His contributions to Liverpool were often pivotal. He was known for scoring important goals and turning draws into victories.
