A 15-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh has accused a sub-inspector (SI) of rape following her rescue from an abduction in Tamil Nadu. The girl alleges that she was raped within the Kadar Chowk police station complex in Budaun, Uttar Pradesh.
According to reports, the girl was allegedly abducted on June 9 from a village within the Kaderchwok police station area by a man identified as Muzakkir. The girl's family filed a complaint the following day, initiating a police investigation. On June 21, a team of Uttar Pradesh Police rescued the girl from Tamil Nadu. She was brought back to UP by train on June 23.
The teenager stated that her grandmother had sold her to Muzakkir, who then took her to Tamil Nadu. During the journey back to Budaun, she alleges that Sub-inspector Hariom assaulted her on the train. Upon arriving at the Kaderchwok police station around 7 pm on June 23, she was initially held in the general area before SI Hariom allegedly took her to his room and raped her. The girl claims that SI Hariom threatened her not to disclose the incident to anyone. She confided in her mother, who encouraged her to speak up. The girl also alleges that she was held at the police station for two to three days before being moved to a girls' shelter.
The girl made these allegations while recording her statement before the Chief Judicial Magistrate on June 27. She reportedly stated that Muzakkir had raped her multiple times and SI Hariom had molested her and used abusive language on the train while returning to Budaun. The victim's mother has corroborated parts of her daughter's account, stating that her daughter was taken from their home and sold for Rs 2.5 lakh.
However, Ujhani Circle Officer Devendra Singh, who is investigating the case, has stated that there are discrepancies in the girl's statement. He noted that the girl was brought to the police station on June 23 at 3:37 pm, placed at the women's help desk, and then taken to the One Stop Center, exclusively for women, at 4:41 pm the same day. She was kept there for three days for medical examination, including an age determination test, which confirmed she is a minor. The probing officer claimed that there are loopholes in the girl's allegations and said "all aspects of the case are being looked into".
Senior Superintendent of Police Brijesh Singh has stated that a probe has been ordered into the matter and all evidence will be presented in court. Meanwhile, SI Hariom has reportedly been transferred from Qadarchowk police station on June 25.
