Sara Arjun, born on June 18, 2005, is stepping into a new phase of her career, taking on the lead female role in the upcoming action-thriller "Dhurandhar" opposite Ranveer Singh. However, before this Bollywood debut as a leading lady, Sara had already shared screen space with several superstars as a child actor in both Hindi and Tamil cinema.
Sara's journey in the entertainment industry began remarkably early. She was just 18 months old when she appeared in her first TV commercial. Spotted at a mall with her parents, she quickly became a sought-after face, featuring in over 100 advertisements for various brands before the age of five.
Her official entry into films came in 2011 with the Tamil drama "Deiva Thirumagal". In this movie, she played the central role of a six-year-old girl whose father, played by Vikram, is a mentally challenged adult. Her performance was highly praised, with critics noting her charm and ability to handle the role with remarkable maturity. Some reviews even stated that she "almost steals the show".
Following the success of "Deiva Thirumagal", Sara appeared in several other notable films. In 2013, she was seen in the Hindi supernatural thriller "Ek Thi Daayan," where she played the younger sister of the lead character. Though the film received mixed reviews, Sara's performance was described as "irresistibly cute". In 2014, she played a lead role in the Tamil family drama "Saivam".
Sara continued to take on diverse roles. She appeared in "Jai Ho" (2014) starring Salman Khan. In 2019, she played the younger version of Sonam Kapoor's character in "Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga". However, one of her most significant roles as a child artist came in Mani Ratnam's two-part epic historical drama, "Ponniyin Selvan" (2022-2023), where she portrayed the younger Nandini, a character later played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. "Ponniyin Selvan" was a massive commercial success, grossing ₹800 crore worldwide.
By 2023, Sara Arjun had become the highest-paid child actress in India, with an estimated net worth of ₹10 crore.
Now, at 20 years old, Sara is ready to transition into leading roles with "Dhurandhar". Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film is an action-packed spy thriller set against real-life events and features Ranveer Singh in the central role, along with Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, and R Madhavan. The first look of the film shows Sara in a glamorous avatar, dancing in a club and sharing moments with Ranveer's character. "Dhurandhar" is slated for release on December 5, 2025.
