Kamal Haasan has showered praise on the upcoming Tamil comedy thriller, "Maareesan," starring Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu, ahead of its theatrical release on July 25, 2025. The veteran actor lauded the film for its seamless blend of humor and depth, noting its socially conscious narrative and keen observation of society's darker aspects.

Haasan shared his thoughts on X, expressing that "Maareesan" left him "laughing, thinking, and admiring its craft". He further added that he had a delightful conversation with the team to congratulate them on this "delightful creation". Haasan also commended the film's ability to address human emotion and social issues through a humorous lens. He stated that "Beneath its humour lies a socially conscious lens on human emotion and a keen gaze at the darker shadows of our society. The kind of inventive, spirited cinema I naturally gravitate towards—both as viewer and creator".

"Maareesan," directed by Sudheesh Sankar and written by V Krishna Moorthy, features Fahadh Faasil as a thief named Dhaya who targets Velayudham, an elderly man with Alzheimer's, played by Vadivelu. Dhaya discovers that Velayudham has a significant amount of money but struggles to remember his ATM pin. The story takes an unexpected turn when Velayudham decides to visit a friend in Thiruvannamalai, and Dhaya offers to take him there, seeing it as an opportunity to steal the money.

The film is produced by RB Choudary under the Super Good Films banner and boasts a talented technical team, including music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematographer Kalaiselvan Sivaji, and editor Sreejith Sarang. "Maareesan" has generated significant buzz due to its intriguing storyline and the collaboration of Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu, who previously worked together in Mari Selvaraj's critically acclaimed socio-political drama, "Maamannan".

Kamal Haasan's appreciation for "Maareesan" highlights the film's potential to resonate with audiences by combining entertainment with thoughtful commentary on societal issues. Many are eager to witness how the movie marries comedy with social observation.

"Maareesan" also stars Kovai Sarala, Vivek Prasanna, Renuka, and Sithara. The film is a travel thriller that subtly addresses a social issue.
