The highly anticipated sequel to the iconic Indian television drama, "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2," is set to premiere on July 29, 2025, on Star Plus and JioHotstar. As the premiere date approaches, the excitement among fans is reaching fever pitch. Gauri Pradhan, who reprises her role as Nandini Virani, has been teasing fans with behind-the-scenes glimpses of the show.

"Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi," which originally aired from July 3, 2000, to November 6, 2008, became a cultural phenomenon, captivating audiences with its engaging storyline and relatable characters. The show, created by Ekta Kapoor, revolved around the lives of the Virani family, exploring themes of love, family dynamics, and societal expectations. The sequel aims to capture the essence of the original while introducing a modern sensibility to resonate with a younger audience.

Gauri Pradhan's return as Nandini Virani has been particularly exciting for fans of the original series. Nandini, the wife of Karan Virani (played by Hiten Tejwani), was a pivotal character in the show, and her on-screen chemistry with Hiten was widely appreciated. The couple's return has generated a wave of nostalgia among viewers who grew up watching them. Gauri's recent behind-the-scenes picture has further fueled the anticipation, offering a sneak peek into the sets and the camaraderie among the cast members.

In a behind-the-scenes video, Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan shared their excitement about returning to the show, expressing that it felt like they were simply picking up from where they left off. Hiten teased that "iss baar Shanti Niketan mein bahut kuch alag hona wala hai," hinting at new twists and turns in the storyline.

The sequel will see the return of several other original cast members, including Smriti Irani as Tulsi Virani and Amar Upadhyay as Mihir Virani. Smriti Irani, who became a household name with her portrayal of Tulsi, announced her return to the show on Instagram, expressing that "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi wasn't just a show—it was emotion, memory, ritual". Amar Upadhyay's return as Mihir is also highly anticipated, as Mihir and Tulsi were one of the most iconic couples on Indian television.

In addition to the original cast, "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2" will also introduce new faces to the Virani family. Rohit Suchanti will play Angad Virani, Tanisha Mehta will play Vrinda Patel (Angad's love interest), Shagun Sharma will play Pari Virani, and Aman Gandhi will play Hrithik Virani. These new characters are expected to bring fresh perspectives and dynamics to the show, adding new layers to the Virani family saga.

Ekta Kapoor plans to infuse the story with a modern sensibility to resonate with the younger audience. The first promo featuring Smriti Irani was released by Star Plus on July 7, 2025. She made it clear that season two would not chase TRPs but aim to impact, entertain, probe thoughts, and inspire while raising important questions, sparking conversations, and standing out in a time dominated by visual gimmicks. The show aims to blend the emotional essence of the original with a modern and relevant storyline. The creators have ensured that the new version feels fresh while honoring the legacy of the original.

Mouni Roy and Pulkit Samrat, who started their careers with the original series, will also be returning in cameo roles. Mouni will reprise her role as Krishna Tulsi, while Pulkit will play Lakshya Virani. Their presence is expected to create an emotional connection between the original and the new storyline, offering fans a sense of continuity and nostalgia.

"Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2" will air every night at 10:30 PM. This limited series will consist of around 150 episodes, a respectful nod to the original show that had nearly 2,000 episodes.
