Narendra Modi continues to be seen as a popular global leader, holding the top spot in approval ratings among world leaders with a 75% approval rate. This data comes from a survey conducted by the US business intelligence company, Morning Consult. The survey gathered data between July 4-10, 2025, and the ratings reflect a seven-day moving average of adult views in the countries surveyed.
The Morning Consult survey has solidified PM Modi's appeal both within India and internationally. In the survey, 75% of participants approved of PM Modi as a democratic world leader. Only 18% expressed disapproval, while 7% remained undecided.
Other leaders who featured in the survey include South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, who secured the second position with a 59% approval rating. Argentinian President Javier Milei followed with 57% approval. Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney secured 56% approval. US President Donald Trump was further down the list with an approval rating of less than 45%.
Narendra Modi's high approval ratings are attributed to several factors, including his economic policies and governance initiatives. His popularity is particularly strong in northern and western India, as well as major urban centers, where citizens associate his leadership with improved infrastructure and living standards. Experts suggest that Modi's appeal is linked to key economic decisions that have positively impacted the middle class, such as tax relief measures and efforts to make borrowing more accessible.
PM Modi has achieved a milestone by completing 4,078 days in office, surpassing Indira Gandhi's previous record. He is now the second-longest consecutively serving Prime Minister in India, after Jawaharlal Nehru. Modi is also the first non-Congress leader to complete two full terms and be re-elected twice with a majority.
In addition to maintaining high domestic and global approval ratings, PM Modi has recently emphasized India's role as a trusted partner to its neighbors. During a visit to Male, he affirmed India's commitment to the Maldives, highlighting the country's importance in India's "Neighbourhood First" policy and the MAHASAGAR vision. Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu has also acknowledged India as a close and trusted partner, praising PM Modi's leadership.
