As of July 31, 2025, petrol and diesel prices remain largely unchanged across major cities in India, continuing a trend of stability that has persisted for approximately 440 days, or nearly 63 weeks. This stability has been maintained since the last pan-India revision of fuel prices on May 21 of the previous year.

In India, the rates of petrol and diesel are determined by oil marketing companies (OMCs) such as Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum, and Indian Oil, which review the prices daily and announce any revisions or lack thereof at 6 a.m. each day.

Here's a look at the petrol and diesel prices in some major cities as of July 31, 2025:

  • Ahmedabad: Petrol ₹96.42 per litre, Diesel ₹92.17 per litre
  • Bengaluru: Petrol ₹101.94 per litre, Diesel ₹87.89 per litre
  • Chennai: Petrol ₹102.73 per litre, Diesel ₹94.33 per litre
  • Delhi: Petrol ₹96.72 per litre, Diesel ₹87.62 per litre

  • Mumbai: Petrol ₹106.31 per litre, Diesel ₹94.27 per litre
  • Patna: Petrol ₹107.24 per litre, Diesel ₹94.04 per litre

It's important to note that fuel rates can vary from state to state due to factors such as value-added tax (VAT), freight charges, and local levies.

Consumers can check the daily petrol and diesel prices in their cities by sending an SMS to the respective oil marketing companies. Indian Oil customers can send an SMS to 9224992249 with the text "RSP ". Bharat Petroleum customers can use the same format and send the SMS to 9223112222. Hindustan Petroleum customers can send "HPPrice " to 9222201122.

In other news, the retail price of RON97 petrol in Malaysia is set to decrease by four sen to RM3.17 per litre from July 31 to August 6. The prices of RON95 petrol and diesel will remain unchanged at RM2.05 per litre and RM2.91 per litre in the peninsula, respectively.

In Pakistan, there are expectations of a reduction in petrol and diesel prices for the next fortnight, following a decrease in the global market. Petrol is likely to drop by Rs 9.07 per litre, while high-speed diesel could decrease by Rs 3.73 per litre.
