A tragic incident on the Delhi–Dehradun Expressway has claimed the lives of two bikers who were performing stunts on the under-construction stretch. The head-on collision, which occurred on August 13 near Pabi Sadakpur village in Ghaziabad, resulted in the immediate deaths of Rohit Sharma, 31, from Delhi, and Subodh Kumar, 42, from Baghpat. A third rider, Sanjay Sharma, sustained critical injuries and is currently receiving treatment in a Meerut hospital.

The Delhi–Dehradun Expressway, still under construction, has become a hotspot for daredevil motorcyclists, despite barricades erected by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to prevent access. A chilling video of the accident, purportedly filmed by a fellow stunt rider, captured the moments leading up to the fatal impact. The video shows one of the bikers riding a superbike in a standing position before colliding head-on with another biker.

According to police reports, Rohit Sharma was traveling towards Baghpat on the expressway, while Subodh Kumar and Sanjay Sharma were en route from Delhi to their home in Baghpat. The collision occurred when the two motorcycles met head-on near Pabi Sadakpur village.

Following the accident, police responded to the scene and transported the injured to a joint hospital. Rohit Sharma and Subodh Kumar were pronounced dead by medical personnel. Sanjay Sharma, critically injured, was then transferred to a private hospital in Meerut for advanced care.

Authorities have expressed concern over the increasing trend of stunt riding on the incomplete expressway. Despite the inherent dangers and the presence of barricades, thrill-seekers continue to access the closed stretch, resulting in hazardous situations. NHAI officials have urged the public to adhere to traffic regulations and refrain from illegally entering the closed expressway.

While no formal complaint has been filed as of yet, police have stated that action will be taken if the families of the victims come forward. The focus remains on preventing further accidents and ensuring the safety of the public. This recent tragedy highlights the critical need for increased vigilance and stricter enforcement to deter stunt riding and other reckless activities on restricted roadways.
