During a public rally in Assam's Darrang district on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a strong attack against the Congress party, accusing it of consistently siding with anti-national forces and supporting infiltrators who threaten India's unity. Modi asserted that the BJP would not allow infiltrators to seize land or alter the state's demographics. He alleged that Congress has been protecting "infiltrators" for vote bank politics, causing a demographic crisis in Assam.

Modi claimed that the Congress party has repeatedly provided cover to anti-national forces, choosing to back infiltrators instead of standing with the country's brave soldiers. He further accused Congress of siding with terrorists groomed by Pakistan, questioning their loyalty to the nation. Modi referenced "Operation Sindoor," alleging that Congress, instead of supporting Indian armed forces, was engaged in protecting infiltrators and anti-national forces. He attributed the success of "Operation Sindoor" to the blessings of Ma Kamakhya.

The Prime Minister also accused the Congress of insulting Bharat Ratna awardee Bhupen Hazarika. He expressed pain over the alleged insults to Hazarika, particularly in light of the wounds inflicted on the people of Assam by Jawaharlal Nehru during the Chinese aggression in 1962. Modi said Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma showed him a video where a former Congress president was seen saying that the "BJP was honouring singers and dancers" after the BJP had bestowed the Bharat Ratna on Bhupen Hazarika in 2019.

Modi hailed the BJP government's work in Assam, stating that they have begun to "correct those wrongs and remove illegal claims". He accused the Congress party of encroaching on farmers' land and places of worship during their rule in the state and praised the Assam government for evicting infiltrators from encroached land, ensuring that farmers can now cultivate on these plots. He said the BJP-led dispensation constructed six bridges over the Brahmaputra river in the last 10 years, while the Congress had only built three in decades.

In addition to his political statements, Modi inaugurated projects worth over ₹6500 crore in Assam, including the Guwahati Ring Road, a new bridge over the Brahmaputra, and a medical college in the Darrang district. He laid the foundation stone for a polypropylene plant in Golaghat, which is expected to boost industrial growth and generate employment in the region. He also laid the foundation stones for the Darrang Medical College, a nursing college, and a GNM school in Mangaldai town, as well as the 2.9 km-long Narengi-Kuruwa bridge. Modi stated that India is currently the fastest-growing country in the world, and Assam has emerged as one of the fastest-growing states in the nation.

BJP leaders have stated that Modi's rallies are part of the ruling party's preparation for the Assembly elections in Assam, slated for early next year, with the BJP aiming to retain power for a third consecutive term.
