To commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 75th birthday on September 17, 2025, a nationwide health and nutrition campaign, "Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan" (Healthy Women, Empowered Families), will be launched. This initiative aims to improve healthcare access for women and children across India. The campaign will run from September 17th to October 2nd, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti.
The "Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan" will feature a range of activities, with a strong emphasis on organizing health camps. Over one lakh health camps will be organized, making it the largest-ever health outreach for women and children in the country. According to reports, 75,000 health camps will be set up across Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centres (CHCs), and local health facilities. These camps will offer essential services specifically designed to address the healthcare needs of women and children, supporting the government's vision of inclusive healthcare.
The health camps will provide a variety of services, including maternal health checkups, child immunizations, and preventive screenings. Specialist camps and screening camps will provide free health services to women, children, and citizens at large. Specialists in cardiology, oncology, nephrology, and other disciplines will be part of the initiative, ensuring comprehensive care. Key services under the campaign include antenatal and postnatal care, immunization, adolescent health with a focus on anemia and menstrual hygiene, screening and treatment for non-communicable diseases like diabetes and hypertension, oral, cervical, and breast cancer detection, sickle cell and tuberculosis screening, mental health consultations, and eye, ENT, and dental check-ups. Additionally, the program will promote awareness on obesity, organ and body donation, Ayush services, geriatric care, and linkages with Ayushman Bharat and Vay Vandana schemes.
Alongside the health camps, the "Poshan Maah" will be fully observed at Anganwadis nationwide, giving special focus to nutrition education, infant & young-child feeding, and wellness. This will promote nutrition awareness and preventive care.
In addition to the "Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan," other initiatives will be launched to mark PM Modi's birthday. The Delhi government will launch 500 creches for children of women working as laborers in the city. In Maharashtra, the BJP plans to organize more than one lakh cataract surgeries and eye check-ups of at least 10 lakh people and distribute spectacles to the needy during a drive from September 17 to October 2. The Odisha government is planning to plant 75 lakh saplings on Wednesday.
Gujarat will host a state-level inauguration of the “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar” campaign at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. During the campaign, more than 1.41 lakh health camps will be organized across the state. As part of the launch day activities, a mega blood donation drive will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and across 600 locations in the state. During the fortnight, all diagnostic tests — including X-rays, sonography, MRI, CT scans, laboratory and radiological tests — will be conducted free of charge at government health facilities.
The "Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan" and related initiatives reflect a broad effort to improve public health and well-being, with a particular focus on women and children. The campaign aims to build healthier families and empowered communities across the country.
