As of October 2025, Microsoft has increased the prices for Xbox Game Pass subscriptions in India, alongside introducing revamped plans. These changes aim to provide more content and perks to gamers, but come at a higher cost.
Price Hikes Across the Board
The price increases affect all tiers of Xbox Game Pass in India. The new pricing structure is as follows:
- Xbox Game Pass Essential: ₹499 per month (increased from ₹349).
- Xbox Game Pass Premium: ₹699 per month (increased from ₹619).
- PC Game Pass: ₹939 per month (increased from ₹449).
- Xbox Game Pass Ultimate: ₹1,389 per month (increased from ₹829).
The most significant increase is for the PC Game Pass, which has almost doubled in price. The Ultimate plan sees a substantial jump as well. In comparison, the US has seen a 50% increase in the Ultimate plan, bringing it to $29.99.
What You Get
Despite the higher prices, Microsoft is adding more value to the Game Pass subscriptions.
- Xbox Game Pass Essential: This plan, replacing Game Pass Core, includes over 50 games, online console multiplayer, cloud gaming, and Xbox rewards.
- Xbox Game Pass Premium: Replacing the Standard plan, it offers over 200 games, cloud gaming, Xbox rewards, online multiplayer, and new Xbox-published games within a year of launch.
- PC Game Pass: Grants access to a library of PC games, day-one launches for new and first-party games, and an EA Play membership.
- Xbox Game Pass Ultimate: This top-tier plan includes over 400 games playable across Xbox consoles, PC, and cloud platforms, with over 75 day-one releases each year. It also bundles EA Play and Ubisoft+ Classics, and starting in November, a Fortnite Crew subscription. Ultimate subscribers also enjoy enhanced Xbox Cloud Gaming at 1440p.
Why the Price Increase?
Microsoft has stated that the price increases will allow them to improve the service and add more value to Xbox Game Pass plans. This includes adding more games, day-one releases, and other benefits like the inclusion of Fortnite Crew and Ubisoft+ Classics in the Ultimate plan. Dustin Blackwell, Microsoft's director of gaming and platform communications, acknowledged that price increases are unpopular but emphasized the company's commitment to providing additional content and listening to player feedback.
Reactions and Impact
The price hikes have been met with mixed reactions from gamers in India. While some appreciate the added content and features, others are concerned about the increased cost, especially for PC Game Pass. Some users are exploring alternative methods to save money, such as stacking PC Game Pass codes to extend their Ultimate subscription at a lower cost.
These changes are part of Microsoft's ongoing efforts to refine the Xbox Game Pass service and provide more options for players. The company hopes that the added benefits will justify the higher prices and continue to attract subscribers to the platform.
