Delhi Explosion: Indian Police Investigate Vehicle's Role in Deadly Incident and Search for Clues.

Delhi Police Investigate Vehicle Involved in Fatal Delhi Explosion

New Delhi, November 11, 2025 – Indian police are conducting a thorough investigation into a car explosion that occurred near the Red Fort in Delhi on Monday evening, November 10, 2025. The blast, which took place during peak rush hour, has so far claimed the lives of at least nine people and left over 20 injured. The Delhi Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Explosives Act.

The explosion occurred at approximately 6:52 PM near the Red Fort metro station, specifically at the Subhash Marg traffic signal. The blast originated in a white Hyundai i20 car and triggered a fire that engulfed several nearby vehicles, including cars, auto-rickshaws and e-rickshaws. According to eyewitnesses, the force of the explosion was such that it shattered windows in nearby buildings and could be heard from hundreds of meters away.

The focus of the investigation has quickly turned to the vehicle involved. The Hyundai i20, bearing a Haryana registration number, is believed to have been at the center of the high-intensity blast. Investigators are meticulously tracing the ownership of the car and its movements leading up to the explosion. CCTV footage shows the car entering a parking area adjacent to the Sunehri Masjid, near the Red Fort, at approximately 3:19 PM and remaining there until around 6:48 PM.

According to sources, the car was registered in Haryana to a Nadeem. However, reports indicate that the car had been sold multiple times. Delhi Police have detained a previous owner of the vehicle, identified as Md Salman, in Gurugram, Haryana. Salman claims he had already sold the car.

Investigators are also exploring potential links to terror groups. The police are investigating whether the blast is connected to the recovery of a large quantity of explosive materials in Faridabad earlier that day. The explosives were allegedly linked to an "interstate and transnational terror module" with connections to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. One line of inquiry suggests that the occupant of the vehicle was Dr. Umar Mohammed, a resident of Pulwama and a suspect in the Faridabad explosives case.

In the wake of the explosion, security has been heightened across New Delhi and in several states. The National Security Guard (NSG) and National Investigation Agency (NIA) are assisting the Delhi Police in the investigation. Forensic teams are working to determine the exact cause of the blast and the type of explosives used.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has offered condolences to the families of the deceased and stated that he has reviewed the situation with Home Minister Amit Shah. Shah visited the blast site and met with injured victims in the hospital, assuring a thorough investigation. The United States Embassy has issued a security alert for its citizens in India.
