Red Fort Blast Aftermath: Death Toll Climbs to 15 as Injured Victims Pass Away in Hospital

New Delhi, November 17, 2025 – The death toll from the car explosion near the Red Fort in Delhi has tragically climbed to 15, after two more individuals succumbed to their injuries at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital. The high-intensity blast, which occurred on November 10, 2025, initially claimed the lives of nine people, with several others injured.

News of the additional fatalities comes as a somber reminder of the blast's devastating impact. Dozens of individuals were rushed to nearby hospitals with severe injuries in the aftermath of the explosion. Hospital officials had previously indicated that the death toll could potentially rise due to the severity of the injuries sustained by some victims and the ongoing examination of unidentified human remains recovered from the blast site.

According to hospital sources, the deceased were being treated for extensive burn injuries and blast-related trauma. Preliminary post-mortem examinations revealed that victims suffered grievous internal and external injuries, including head trauma and ruptured organs. A senior doctor familiar with the reports stated that the blast caused extensive internal damage, with many victims suffering torn eardrums, ruptured lungs and intestines, and deep wounds on the upper body. "In such explosions, death is usually caused by the severe internal injuries rather than external trauma," the official added.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is currently leading the investigation into the blast. Their investigation has uncovered links between the main accused doctor and a Turkiye-based handler. The accused doctor, who was allegedly driving the vehicle that exploded, is suspected to be the leader of a "white-collar group" of doctors within the terror module. According to reports, he motivated other doctors to join the plot.

In connection with the case, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with intelligence agencies, had previously detained three doctors for questioning, seeking to determine any possible connections to those suspected in the Red Fort car blast case.

In the wake of the explosion, the Delhi Police have heightened vigilance and security measures in key areas around the city. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited as the NIA continues its inquiry into the incident.
